Jordan Dopkins (namedrop)
jdopkins@ucsc dot edu

I am a PhD candidate in the philosophy department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an Instructor of Philosophy at Georgia State University. I specialize in the philosophy of mind and the philosophy of science (especially cognitive science and biology).

I am advised by Jon Ellis, Nico Orlandi, Paul Roth, and Jason Samaha. My research is about the scientific concepts and methodologies used to advance theories of animal navigation. My dissertation focuses on problems associated with using mental representations (like cognitive maps) to explain how rats navigate Morris water maze tasks.

The Humanities Institute at UCSC did a profile on my QE project about the content view of perception. You can read that here.
